Ghaziabad: Residents of Abhay Khand in Indirapuram have expressed growing frustration over deteriorating civic conditions, blaming incomplete work by GMC for escalating public health risks. They alleged that contractors have abandoned ongoing projects, leaving clogged drains, stagnant water, poor drainage and accumulated waste that could trigger dengue and malaria outbreaks.“The contractor has abandoned the work midway, leaving conditions ripe for the breeding of dengue-carrying mosquitoes. Water is pooling during the rains, causing inconvenience to residents and leading to severe traffic jams on the road,” said Sanjay Kumar, a resident of the area.“When GMC took over, we anticipated a prompt and effective resolution to our long-pending grievances, from overflowing sewers and waterlogging to dilapidated roads and rampant encroachment,” said Rajendra P Joshi, RWA general secretary of Abhay Khand. “Regrettably, nearly 24 months later, we are confronting a reality that is far grimmer: our infrastructure and safety have deteriorated significantly, not improved.”He added that sewer overflow problems have worsened, drains are clogged and sanitation arrangements are inadequate.

Many residents now believe GDA would have handled essential tasks more effectively. The growing sentiment reflects a deepening loss of faith in GMC’s civic management.With frustration growing, residents are urging all RWAs, social groups, and citizens to come together and find a practical way to solve these urgent problems. “If these issues are not resolved promptly, we must consider conveying our concerns to the administration and elected representatives through proper channels,” said Joshi. He added that residents want more than promises — they expect quality work from civic authorities to make their neighbourhood livable again.However, GMC officials said that they have been actively addressing complaints.
