CISF jawan dies after firing incident at Rawatbhata atomic plant, probe on

Bhilwara: A 25-year-old Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) jawan deployed at the Rajasthan Atomic Power Plant complex in Rawatbhata, Chittorgarh, died Saturday after sustaining a gunshot wound from his service rifle while on duty.The deceased, identified as Sarkar Pramir Sarak, was a recruit from the 2025 CISF batch and had joined duty at Rawatbhata around six months ago.The incident occurred in the morning when the jawan was posted outside the reactor building of Units 3 and 4 of the atomic power plant. After fellow security personnel heard the gunshot, they found the jawan in a blood-soaked condition and rushed him to the Rajasthan Atomic Power Plant hospital, where doctors declared him dead.Police reached the spot after being informed about the incident, inspected the site, collected evidence and recorded preliminary information. The body has been kept in the hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.SP Dharmendra Singh said the incident appeared to be a case of suicide prima facie, but the exact circumstances would be established only after the post-mortem report and police investigation.According to preliminary information, marks indicating two to three rounds of firing were found near the jawan’s chest, prompting police to examine the circumstances closely. Police said all possible angles were being investigated.The deceased’s family in West Bengal has been informed. The post-mortem is scheduled to be conducted Sunday after his relatives arrive. Further action will be taken based on the investigation and post-mortem findings.
