Panaji: GPCC president Girish Chodankar on Monday claimed that a connection has emerged between the accused in the Porvorim shootout case and chief minister, raising doubts about the investigation.Addressing a news conference attended by AICC desk in-charge Manikrao Thakare and leader of opposition Yuri Alemao, Chodankar said, “In the Porvorim shootout issue, it has been revealed that there is a direct connection between the accused in the shootout case and the chief minister, which has raised doubts about the investigation, and that is the reason the Goy Rakhonn Yatra is important.”Chodankar also alleged that chief minister Pramod Sawant has compromised an investigation related to a job scam.Congress general secretary (organisation) K V Venugopal will flag off the 27-day Goy Rakhonn Yatra on Wednesday from Hanuman temple at Banastarim in the Priol constituency. Chodankar said Lok Sabha opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has been invited for the concluding day of the yatra.Chodankar said people in Goa are enthusiastic about the yatra, and that the party will discuss all issues related to the state with the public during the programme.Alemao urged like-minded political parties, NGOs and social activists to join what he called a historic yatra to fight the “corrupt” govt, adding that it would be one of the biggest moments since Liberation.
