Mangaluru: Actor and activist Chethan Ahimsa Saturday announced that a new political party comprising like-minded individuals is being formed in Karnataka.Emphasising the need for a new political movement in the state, Chethan told reporters that a regional party would be officially established before next Jan and that a statewide tour was already underway to build support for the initiative.Pointing out that various organisations currently operate with distinct agendas, including Hindutva, Chethan said like-minded people would come together to build a new party excluding these existing agendas. He also expressed scepticism towards the Prajakeeya party, saying he remained unconvinced by its ideology and that it lacked clarity. He claimed that current political parties operate solely for personal gain.Referring to Tamil Nadu chief minister C Joseph Vijay’s TVK, he noted that the party rose to prominence purely on stardom.“The Tamil Nadu chief minister and the Andhra Pradesh deputy chief minister, Pawan Kalyan, would only understand the real issues faced by the public if they directly interacted with people on the ground,” he said.Chethan also firmly opposed the proposed Bidadi township project and declared that he would actively fight against its implementation.
