Chennai: Chennai district marginally upped its performance this board exam, scoring a pass percentage of 95.43 — from 94.43 in 2024-25. Of the 62,841 students who took the test from 578 schools in the district, 59,967 passed. Girls secured a higher pass percentage (97.10%) than boys (93.57%). The city also improved its ranking to 20 this year from 23 last year. As many as 170 schools secured a pass percentage of 100, of which 34 are govt and aided schools.Govt schools working under the education department, Adi Dravidar, private and GCC schools too improved with a pass percentage of 90.60 — up from 87.86% last year. “We started giving 1 and 2 marks for practice every month for students and amped up revision classes. The percentage also reflects the increased commitment of teachers,” chief education officer M Kabir said.
