Times News NetworkChandigarh: With the Municipal Corporation elections proposed for December and the special intensive revision (SIR) process set to begin soon, the Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC) on Thursday organised a Booth Level Agents (BLA) training camp at Rajiv Gandhi Congress Bhawan in Sector 35.Around 200 BLAs and Congress workers from across the city attended the camp, where they received training from a special team deputed by the All India Congress Committee (AICC). The training focused on strengthening booth-level preparedness and ensuring smooth coordination during the upcoming polls.Chandigarh MP Manish Tewari appreciated the disciplined participation of workers and emphasised the importance of grassroots strength in elections. He said the true strength of the Congress lies in its booth-level workers, whose role would be crucial in the coming months.“Every BLA is not merely a worker monitoring votes, but a key contributor to the party’s success. Hard work, vigilance and public outreach at the booth level will form the foundation of Congress’s performance in the MC elections,” he said.Chandigarh Congress president H S Lucky said the party would focus on strengthening monitoring mechanisms at each booth. He alleged that democratic processes had been weakened in recent years and stressed that Congress workers would ensure protection of voters’ rights.AICC secretary Chetan Chauhan assured full organisational support to the Chandigarh unit and said activities would be intensified.During the session, the AICC training team guided participants on voter list verification, preventing wrongful deletions, identifying irregularities and strengthening booth-level coordination. Workers also raised queries, which were addressed during the interactive session.
