Highlighting CTL’s decade-long journey, Dr Singh said the group has regularly conducted tree walks across the tricity, spreading awareness about species diversity among students and nature enthusiasts while undertaking plantation drives at various locations.Over the years, the organisation has also documented trees in key parts of the city and facilitated the installation of nameplates to help residents and visitors identify different species. It has additionally surveyed nearly 100 schools to identify damaged or hazardous trees on their campuses.Emphasising that plantation efforts must be backed by proper upkeep, Singh said a mature tree provides cooling equivalent to five air conditioners besides delivering numerous ecological benefits. He added that CTL is keen to contribute to scientific pruning and plantation initiatives across the city while continuing to promote awareness about Chandigarh’s rich green heritage.
