Mohali: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Malvinder Singh Kang on Wednesday criticised the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) over a demolition drive in Saini Majra village, calling the agency a “centre of loot” and alleging selective enforcement.Visiting the site after receiving calls from affected residents, Kang alleged that shops belonging to poor shopkeepers and daily-wage earners were targeted while neighbouring structures were spared. He claimed some shopkeepers paid money to avoid demolition, whereas those unable to pay saw their livelihoods destroyed.While GMADA officials stated the action complied with high court orders, Kang questioned why enforcement was not applied uniformly. He confirmed speaking to GMADA chief administrator Sandeep Rishi late Tuesday night to demand strict adherence to legal norms.Calling for the immediate transfer of long-serving GMADA officials and staff, Kang appealed to chief minister Bhagwant Mann to initiate a probe into the alleged irregularities. He warned that party workers would organise a gherao of GMADA if the issue remains unaddressed.
