Ghaziabad: An Eeco car carrying seven persons crashed into a truck on Delhi-Meerut Expressway on Monday night, leaving one person dead and six others injured. Police said the truck was travelling ahead of the car and had applied brakes suddenly, which led to the crash.The truck driver has been taken into custody and his vehicle seized. The car driver, Kafil, succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday.SHO of Bhojpur police station Satish Kumar said that Kafil was taking six passengers, Mo Danish, Naved, Arif, Adil, Ahad and Faiz, from Bijnor to Delhi when the accident took place. Late at night, he got onto Delhi-Meerut Expressway from Meerut Partapur. When they reached Saidpur, the truck moving ahead braked abruptly, which led to the Eeco losing control and crashing into it.The SHO added, “The collision was so severe that the front portion of the car was badly damaged. Kafil and all the passengers in the car were injured. On receiving information, the police and the expressway patrolling team reached the spot and the injured were taken to a hospital in Meerut, where Kafil succumbed to injuries on Tuesday afternoon. The others are still undergoing treatment.”Police have informed Kafil’s family member and his body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.No complaint has been filed by the deceased’s family yet.
