Ahmedabad: A mobile phone video allegedly recorded shortly before a 30-year-old man and his 7-year-old son drowned in a canal has prompted the victim‘s father to file a complaint of abetment to suicide against six persons, alleging they drove his son to take the extreme step.According to a complaint registered by Kalol Taluka police on Friday, Mohammad Jadav (56), a resident of Sarkhej, alleged that his son, Shoaib, had been married to Muskan Shahjada for around eight years. The couple had a 7-year-old son, Uzer. Jadav stated that following a marital dispute, Muskan had been living at her parental home for the past six months, while Shoaib had moved back with his parents.According to the complaint, on the night of Aug 30, Shoaib asked his father for the keys to a motorcycle, saying he wanted to take Uzer for a ride. When the two did not return, the family later learnt that a motorcycle and a mobile phone had been found near the Adalaj canal.Police recovered Uzer’s body from the Kadi canal on Aug 31, while Shoaib’s body was found in the Pij Narmada canal on Sept 1, the complaint stated. The family later collected Shoaib’s mobile phone from Adalaj police and examined its contents.Jadav alleged that they discovered a video recorded by Shoaib shortly before the extreme step. Although the footage was allegedly shot in darkness and contained no visible images, Shoaib’s voice could reportedly be heard clearly.According to the complaint, Shoaib stated in the recording that he and his son had come to the Adalaj canal to die and blamed his decision on an alleged betrayal by his wife, Muskan. He also named Mahendra, Nikita, Jayesh, Pari and Aarti, claiming they were connected to or had supported the alleged betrayal.Jadav further alleged that chats and photographs purportedly showing Muskan with Mahendra were also found on the phone. Based on the video, chats and photographs, he accused Muskan, Mahendra, Nikita, Jayesh, Pari and Aarti of harassing his son and abetting his suicide.Kalol Taluka police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against the six persons named in the FIR.
