Cabbie arrested for flashing obscene video at woman driver

Gurgaon: A cab driver allegedly played an obscene video on his phone and turned the screen towards a woman driver at an EV charging station in Sector 29, prompting her to record the incident and confront him. The incident took place on Wednesday and the accused was arrested on Thursday.The woman, a Delhi resident who drives a cab for a private company ferrying its staff across Delhi-NCR, had taken her vehicle to the charging station. After plugging in her vehicle, she stayed seated inside to rest.She alleged that the man charging his vehicle nearby was watching videos on his phone and, after noticing her, deliberately played the clip and turned the screen sideways. When he realised he was being filmed, he lowered the phone.She then confronted him and checked his identity card, which named him as Arjun Kamawat, a driver with a private transport company that rents out cabs for travel. When he responded to her objections, she warned him she would file a police complaint and alerted the charging station’s security staff, seeking action against him.As the security team arrived, the accused allegedly tried to leave. The woman said she removed the key from his vehicle to stop him from fleeing and handed it to security personnel after they assured her that action would be taken. She later posted the video on social media along with an account of the incident.Kamawat was eventually let go but arrested after the woman filed a complaint. Kamawat, originally from Parsa village in Bihar’s Madhubani district, is currently residing in Nathupur, DLF Phase-3. “There is zero tolerance to such things,” said Sector 29 SHO inspector Satender.The accused has been booked under sections 75(2) (sexual harassment) and 79 (any word, sound, gesture, object, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman or intrude upon her privacy) of BNS at Sector 29 police station.
