Ambala: Four labourers were killed and nine others injured on Sunday when a three-storey under-construction building partially collapsed in the Dhulkot area of Ambala City. Several more are feared trapped under the debris.The incident occurred at a showroom project owned by local property dealer Hardeep Singh Jaggi. According to officials, the third-floor roof caved in while workers were engaged in construction, bringing down the lower floors.Police identified the deceased as Rajender Kumar, 50, of Sonta village, Ambala; Kalia Ram, 48, and Shastri Ram, 50, both from Uttar Pradesh; and Roop Singh from Punjab.Emergency teams pulled nine injured workers from the rubble and shifted them to civil hospital. Local authorities, supported by the State Disaster Response Force and National Disaster Response Force, deployed heavy machinery, fire engines and ambulances to clear debris and locate remaining survivors.Ambala superintendent of police Ajit Singh Shekhawat said rescuers have located at least two trapped workers as overnight search efforts continued. He said an investigation into construction safety lapses and municipal building approvals will proceed once rescue operations conclude. It is yet unclear whether the building construction was approved by the municipal corporation or not.Senior administrative officials, including deputy commissioner Sachin Gupta, inspected the site.
