Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has urged Hyderabad district collector to protect the eight acres govt land in survey no 157/1 in Thokatta village, Trimulgherry mandal in Bowenpally from the clutches of private people.BRS spokesperson Krishank along with other BRS leaders met the district collector Priyanka Ala on Monday and submitted a memorandum asking to protect the land worth Rs 800 crore from going into the hands of private persons. He said that the land has historically been treated as govt land (Poramboke Sarkari) land, with records dating back to 1955, Land Encroachment proceedings of 1975-76, and multiple court proceedings consistently reflecting Government interest over the property and it has been the subject of legal and administrative proceedings for several decades.“Various courts and revenue authorities have repeatedly resisted private claims over the property. In 2025, Cantonment Congress MLA Sri Ganesh and minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy proposed construction of 6,000 Indiramma houses on the same land, treating it as govt property meant for public welfare. Despite this, the land is now reportedly under private control and has been fenced off, causing concern among local residents,” he said in the representation. He demanded the govt to inquiry into the title, classification, possession and legal status of the land, examine all historical revenue, survey and legal records and joint verification by revenue, survey and legal authorities. The BRS delegation emphasized that public property of such magnitude must be safeguarded and that complete transparency is essential in the interest of the people of Hyderabad and Telangana. The collector assured the leaders that the matter would be examined and appropriate action would be taken.Ends.
