Bottled water plant owner cheated of ₹2.42cr by Noida firm

Rajkot: The owner of a bottled water plant in Keshod, Junagadh district, has accused 11 people, including the owner and sales head of a Noida-based company, of cheating him of more than Rs 2.4 crore by allegedly luring him into a fraudulent business agreement.The 25-year-old lodged a complaint with Keshod police, who have registered a case under BNS Sections 316(2), 318 and 61(2), among others.The complainant said that in 2024, he came across an advertisement by the Noida company on social media. The complainant allegedly entered into an agreement with the company based on its assurance of helping him set up a bottled water plant and buying packaged water from him. The accused allegedly collected Rs 2.4 crore in instalments as registration charges, licence fees and machinery costs. The complainant said he took a substantial loan to set up the plant.Under the agreement, the Noida company was required to install machinery for a production capacity of 90 bottles per minute (BPM). It allegedly supplied substandard machinery with a capacity of less than 60 BPM.The complainant further alleged that the company neither helped with trial runs, technical support, nor provided other services committed under the agreement, nor did it buy the packaged water after the plant became operational.The complainant said he did not receive a satisfactory response to his repeated emails and phone calls. He later learnt that the Noida company had unilaterally cancelled the agreement.
