Jaipur: BJP national general secretary (organisation) B L Santosh will visit Jaipur on Sept 4 to review the party’s preparations for the municipal elections following unrest over ticket distribution.Santosh will meet Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, BJP state president Madan Rathore, members of the state core committee and MLAs from 3.30pm. The meeting is expected to focus on damage control, booth-level management and strengthening the campaign.Supporters of denied ticket aspirants have staged protests in several cities and towns, while some rebels have entered the electoral fray against official BJP candidates. The party leadership is concerned that such contests could divide votes and affect its prospects in key wards.BJP is likely to identify seats where the problem is more pronounced and discuss local-level negotiations and mediation by senior leaders. Disgruntled leaders could also be assigned organisational responsibilities to keep them engaged with the party.Santosh is expected to review the functioning of the election war room, campaign strategy and booth network, including the preparedness of teams across wards. Organisational weak spots and areas requiring additional mobilisation are also likely to be assessed.The party will also discuss its strategy of highlighting the state govt’s achievements alongside local civic issues. The municipal elections are being viewed as an important organisational test ahead of the proposed Panchayati Raj polls.
