Jhunjhunu: Tension erupted outside a resort in Dhanani village in Sikar’s Laxmangarh subdivision Sunday after BJP supporters allegedly tried to forcibly enter a camp where newly elected Congress councillors of the Losal municipality were staying.A heated argument broke out between BJP and Congress supporters at the resort gate. Laxmangarh police reached the spot after being informed.Sikar Congress district president Sunita Gathala alleged that BJP supporters arrived in several vehicles and attempted to enter the resort, claiming they were trying to take 15–20 Congress councillors away from the camp. She also accused the BJP candidate from Losal Ward 26 and other supporters of attempting to lure away Congress councillors and demanded security for them.Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra said on X that he had spoken to the Jaipur Police IG and the Sikar superintendent of police and informed them that elected Congress councillors were being pressured, intimidated, and threatened.The incident comes ahead of the election for Losal municipal chairperson. In the 35-member municipality, Congress has 16 seats, BJP nine, CPM one, and independents nine. BJP has nominated Baldevaram for chairperson, while Congress has nominated Laxman Singh.
