BJP scores 2 out of 2 in Rewari district

Rewari: The BJP swept the civic body elections in Rewari district on Wednesday, winning the chairperson posts in both Rewari municipal council and Dharuhera municipal committee by comfortable margins.In Rewari municipal council, BJP candidate Vineeta Peepal defeated Congress nominee Niharika by 21,455 votes. Peepal secured 44,521 votes against Niharika’s 23,066.Deputy commissioner and district election officer Abhishek Meena described the polling and counting process as “peaceful, transparent and fair”. “Citizens participated enthusiastically in the democratic process and the administration ensured complete transparency and neutrality throughout the election procedure,” he said.Authorities said elaborate security arrangements, including CCTV surveillance and deployment of police personnel, were made at counting centres to ensure smooth conduct of the exercise.In Dharuhera municipal committee, BJP candidate Satyanarayan alias Ajay Jangra won the chairperson election by defeating independent candidate Babu Lal Lamba by 6,236 votes.Jangra polled 9,392 votes, while Lamba secured 3,156. Congress candidate Kumari Raj finished third with 1,817 votes.The counting process for Dharuhera civic polls was conducted at Government College, Kharkhara, under the supervision of SDM and election officer Suresh Kumar. Mahendragarh ADC Tarun Pawaria served as observer, while Gurgaon joint police commissioner Sangeeta Kalia oversaw security arrangements.Results for all 18 councillor wards in Dharuhera were also declared. The closest contest was witnessed in Ward 16, where Manisha Saini defeated Deepa by just three votes.
