Chandigarh: Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon on Tuesday alleged that the AAP govt had “quietly implemented” the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act (VB-G RAM G) after initially opposing it, claiming the move reflected fear of public backlash.In a statement, Dhillon alleged that the Mann govt had earlier passed a resolution in the assembly opposing the Centre’s scheme at the behest of AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal. He claimed the govt later implemented it after realising that workers in Punjab could not do without the scheme. “If this law was truly against workers’ interests, why is the Punjab govt now implementing it through the backdoor?” Dhillon said.He alleged that the AAP govt was opposing the Centre’s welfare initiatives for political reasons and accused it of having “no real concern” for workers’ livelihoods or Punjab’s development.Claiming the law would come into force across the country from July 1, Dhillon said it would ensure transparency in wage payments, eliminate middlemen, curb corruption and provide timely direct transfer of wages into workers’ bank accounts. He appealed to workers in Punjab to take full advantage of the scheme.s
