Guwahati: Assam BJP state president Dilip Saikia has issued a stern advisory to all party members, including candidates and office bearers, cautioning them against the use of derogatory terms on social media platforms. The directive comes after certain candidates and party members were found using words such as “chiprang” (spud-bar) and “gaddar” (traitor) on social media in reference to possible rebels within the party during the assembly election.Saikia said, “Social media is not a forum for venting resentment”, reminding members that such expressions are contrary to the ethos and cultural values of BJP.State spokesperson Ranjib Kumar Sarmah said such terminology has no place within the party’s ideological framework. The party president called upon all party workers to maintain dignity, discipline, and decorum at all times.
“Issuing a clear warning, the state president declared that discipline is non-negotiable, and any deviation from the party’s code of conduct will lead to strict accountability. Those found violating party discipline will be held answerable,” the spokesperson added. The advisory highlights growing unease within the party ranks, with speculation about internal dissent and potential rebellion surfacing in recent days. By drawing attention to the use of inflammatory language, the leadership is seeking to contain factionalism and project unity ahead of crucial political battles.Saikia’s intervention underscores BJP’s emphasis on organisational discipline, especially at a time when the party is under pressure to maintain cohesion. He made it clear that those found violating the directive will be held answerable, sending a strong message that the party will not tolerate indiscipline or public airing of grievances.Observers note that the warning reflects the challenges of managing digital platforms, where internal disagreements can quickly spill into the public domain.
