Bike recovered in gym trainer murder; revenge angle under scanner

New Delhi: The investigation into the murder of gym trainer Vijay Lohia in south Delhi’s Fatehpur Beri has led police to Haryana, where a motorcycle allegedly used by the assailants has been recovered.Police traced the two-wheeler to the Tigaon area of Faridabad during the probe. Investigators found that the motorcycle had been stolen from Sarita Vihar and an FIR had earlier been registered in connection with the theft. The recovery has prompted police to examine a possible link between Lohia’s murder and a killing reported near Chhatarpur Metro Station last year. Sources said the motorcycle was recovered from the native village of one of the suspects, who had allegedly been jailed in connection with the earlier case.Investigators are probing whether Lohia’s murder was an act of revenge linked to the 2025 killing. Police are also analysing CCTV footage, technical evidence and the movement of the suspects before and after the shooting.Lohia, a resident of Fatehpur Beri, was shot dead near Hansa Chowk around 10 am Monday.According to sources, the assailants had allegedly been waiting outside the gym for him and were wearing helmets. They arrived on two motorcycles that allegedly carried fake number plates.Police suspect Lohia was lured out of the gym on the pretext that someone wanted to speak with him. As soon as he stepped outside, the attackers allegedly ambushed him and opened fire.Sources said around 12-15 rounds were fired, leaving Lohia with multiple injuries, including at least two gunshot wounds to the head. He was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.Police are continuing efforts to identify and apprehend the assailants.
