Panaji: Goa govt on Monday told the Bombay high court that the proposed Bhoma elevated road on NH 748 will not affect any ancient temple or the lake, with National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) proposing a bow-string bridge over the lake to minimise damage.Advocate general Devidas Pangam said the alignment and construction method of the elevated corridor would not affect temples. The high court directed state to share the project plan with petitioner Sandea Gajanan Naik and others. It also asked Naik to engage with NHAI officials, the temple committee and a technical expert to understand the proposal.During the hearing before the division bench, advocate Nigel da Costa Frias, appearing for Naik and the other petitioners, said the proposed bypass alignment failed to consider its impact on three ancient temples. The petitioners, he said, were devotees of the temples and had been agitating and making representations against the project. They also contend that the highway project has been divided into three or four stages to avoid the requirement of obtaining environmental clearance.
