Panaji: Credai, the apex body representing Goa’s real estate industry, has urged chief minister Pramod Sawant to ensure that ease of doing business reforms are implemented uniformly across government departments, saying their success will ultimately be judged by their impact on the ground. While welcoming govt’s efforts to simplify the regulatory framework, Credai said reforms must translate into quicker decisions, better coordination and fewer instances of “procedural friction” for businesses.“The next important step is to ensure that these reforms are reflected in the day-to-day functioning of departments, with clearly defined timelines, greater coordination and maximum use of technology. If this happens consistently, the impact on investment and economic activity can be significant,” Credai president Rajesh Sheth said.Credai welcomed the recent Bill passed by the assembly to simplify and streamline the regulatory framework but said govt should work closely with the real estate sector to identify procedural bottlenecks and develop practical solutions.“The industry does not ask for regulations to be diluted. What businesses need is a regulatory system that is clear, transparent, consistent and time-bound,” Credai secretary Avez Shaikh said.“Removing unnecessary procedural friction will allow businesses to spend more time creating value, investing and generating employment rather than navigating avoidable administrative delays,” he said.Sheth said the Bill reflected an understanding that ease of doing business was not merely about reducing paperwork, but about creating a transparent, predictable and time-bound system in which businesses could operate with confidence.“For an industry to invest, grow and create employment, it needs regulatory certainty and predictability. The direction taken by the government is encouraging and demonstrates a willingness to make Goa more business-friendly while maintaining the necessary regulatory safeguards,” Sheth said.“This is good not only for developers, but for the entire business and investment ecosystem of the state,” he added.
