Alwar: Bhiwadi police Thursday arrested three men linked to an alleged global cyber fraud syndicate that targeted victims in more than six countries and seized Rs 96 lakh, seven laptops, four mobile phones and a SUV, police said.The arrested accused were identified as Mohit Gupta (35) and Rahul Singh (34), both from Delhi, and James Anil Mandal (35) from Kolkata.According to Bhiwadi superintendent of police Brajesh Upadhyay, the accused were living anonymously in Ashiana Town Society and allegedly impersonated officials of the US Justice Department and other govt agencies, using fake arrest warrants, settlement notices and threats of “digital arrest” to intimidate victims. Senior citizens were their primary targets.The proceeds of the alleged fraud were converted into cryptocurrency before being routed to India, police said.Upadhyay said the operation was launched under a special plan prepared following the chief minister’s video conference. The raid was carried out under the supervision of additional superintendent of police Lal Meena and deputy superintendent of police Kailash Chaudhary by a team led by station house officer Sachin Sharma.
