Hyderabad: Revenue, housing and information minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said on Thursday that the Telangana govt will launch the redevelopment and restoration works at the Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy temple in Bhadrachalam on June 27.Reviewing preparations with officials of the endowments department and temple authorities at the Secretariat, the minister said the works would be taken up in accordance with Agama Shastra norms while preserving the spiritual and architectural heritage of the famed shrine, often referred to as “Dakshina Ayodhya”.

Ponguleti said chief minister A Revanth Reddy had sanctioned ₹351 crore for the temple’s redevelopment, with the project aimed at meeting the needs of devotees for the next two centuries. The govt has directed officials to ensure that the temple’s traditional character and sanctity are not disturbed during the execution of the works.The minister instructed officials to give priority to stone structures and traditional temple architecture so that the renovated complex reflects the shrine’s historic and spiritual significance. He said the project should serve as a model for future generations while enhancing facilities for the growing number of pilgrims visiting the temple.With the next Sri Rama Navami celebrations set as a key milestone, officials have been asked to divide the project into multiple components and execute the works simultaneously to meet timelines. Ponguleti directed departments concerned to draw up a special action plan to ensure that the works are completed within the schedule fixed by the govt.The redevelopment project is expected to focus on both heritage conservation and pilgrim amenities at one of Telangana’s most prominent religious destinations.
