Bengaluru opens its streets to busking

Bengaluru’s streets are set to become a stage for original music with the launch of The Music Scene by UnboxingBLR. Launched at One Sobha on Church Street, the initiative offers local indie musicians a free, non-commercial platform to perform every Saturday from 5 pm to 8 pm. Each session will feature 5–10 artistes, with 20-minute sets showcasing original music. Artistes are selected through an anonymous application process based on originality, musical quality, live performance and audience connection. They will receive 100% of the tips collected, with no platform commission.

The Music Scene is about handing the city back to its artists and its audiences. Every Saturday becomes a reason for strangers to stop, listen, and connect while giving local artists a genuine democratised platform to perform and a direct line to their audience

What is busking?Busking is a form of live street performance in public spaces where musicians and performers entertain passers-by in an open and informal setting, with audiences free to stop, watch, enjoy and contribute voluntarily.

This is a new beginning for our city. Our goal is not a one-off event but a lasting, formal, and structured pathway for public performances that the city can own and build on for years to come
