Bengaluru: Shri Kantha S N, a student of Government PU College, Dasarahalli, has scripted an inspiring success story through his determination and hard work. With no financial support for coaching, he relied on self-study to prepare for the JEE Mains examination, securing a commendable score that helped him gain admission to Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM), Kancheepuram.Shri Kantha is the son of Jayashree and Shekharappa, daily-wage workers at a garment factory in Peenya. He began his education at govt schools in Raichur and later moved to Morarji Desai Residential School in Sindhanur for his high school studies. For his pre-university education, he joined Government PU College, Dasarahalli, where he continued his journey towards achieving his dream.“I did not have the money for entrance coaching, so I prepared on my own using NCERT books and study materials from PhysicsWallah. My teachers supported me greatly and helped clear my doubts. I would study for long hours after school, often continuing until midnight,” said Shri Kantha, who secured a rank of 1,975 in the ST category.“I wanted to perform well in the entrance exams and get into a good college so that I could build a stable future. Having personally seen the challenges faced by students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds, I want to become someone who can support them in the future. That thought motivated me to work hard,” he said.Former school education minister S Suresh Kumar visited Shri Kantha at his home in Peenya. “I want to play that role one day and help people in need,” said Shri Kantha.Teachers at his school said Shri Kantha was a disciplined and dedicated student. “There were four students from his class who would stay back after school for extra lessons, and Shri Kantha was one of them. He was genuinely interested in the subjects and attended the classes with great dedication,” said his chemistry teacher, Vijayamma KC.
