BENGALURU: A special court in Bengaluru has disposed of a petition filed by HL Shivakumar, the co-accused in the sexual harassment case involving Janata Dal (Secular) MLC Suraj Revanna, after rejecting his plea to turn approver.The case involves Janata Dal (Secular) MLC Dr Suraj Revanna, who was named as the prime accused (A1) following allegations that he sexually abused a young party worker at his farmhouse in Channarayapatna taluk.Suraj’s associate, HL Shivakumar, was identified as the co-accused (A2) for allegedly aiding Suraj and threatening the complainant and his family to prevent them from reporting the matter.Shivakumar recently filed a petition before the special court seeking permission to turn approver, a status that allows an accused person to give evidence against co-defendants in exchange for a pardon or lenient sentencing.However, Suraj Revanna filed formal objections opposing his associate’s petition. After considering the arguments and objections, the special court rejected Shivakumar’s plea to turn approver and disposed of the petition.
