Hyderabad: BJP national general secretary Sunil Bansal is believed to have delivered a strong message against factional politics in the Telangana unit, urging leaders to focus on building their own organisational strength rather than aligning themselves with power centres within the party.During his three-day visit to the state along with BJP national president Nitin Nabin, Bansal held separate meetings with MPs, MLAs, district presidents and other senior functionaries. According to party leaders, he repeatedly stressed that electoral success must be earned through sustained grassroots work rather than reliance on the central leadership.“The message was simple. Don’t chase camps. Don’t get caught up in state or national politics. Politics should begin and end at the booth because that’s where elections are won,” a senior BJP leader told TOI.Bansal is learnt to have advised MPs, MLAs and other leaders to spend more time in their constituencies instead of remaining confined to Hyderabad. He urged them to regularly visit mandals and booths, stay connected with party workers and build an independent political base rather than depend on any particular group leader.He is also believed to have cautioned leaders against tying their political fortunes to individual power centres, noting that a setback for a group leader could adversely affect the prospects of those around them.The BJP national general secretary reportedly sought details of inactive office-bearers from district units. “He said it would take just two or three days to identify leaders who are not working. He even remarked that nearly 50% of office-bearers could fall in that category,” another senior leader said.Party leaders said the central leadership’s message was unequivocal: Advancement within the BJP will increasingly be determined by booth-level performance and organisational work, rather than proximity to influential leaders or factions.In a blunt message against factional politics, BJP national general secretary Sunil Bansal is learnt to have told Telangana leaders to stop revolving around group leaders and instead build their own political base at the constituency and booth levels.
