Back-to-Back Flyover Mishaps in East Delhi: Bike Taxi Passenger Killed, Child Battles for Life

New Delhi: A woman died and three people were injured in two separate accidents in east Delhi’s Shahdara.In the first incident, a 26-year-old woman riding pillion on a bike taxi was killed after the two-wheeler skidded on the Shahdara flyover in Delhi on Saturday. The rider has been apprehended.The deceased, identified as Neelam, a resident of Karawal Nagar, was on her way to work in the Jhilmil area when the accident occurred, an officer said. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.A case has been registered against the rider, identified as Dharamvir, who has been apprehended.,In another incident, three people, including two minor girls, were injured after falling off the Geeta Colony flyover when their motorcycle crashed into the boundary wall Monday afternoon. One of the girls is critically injured, police said.The injured man has been identified as Ashish, while the two girls, Rubi (12) and Mansi (11), are his daughters. The trio was going from northeast Delhi’s Sonia Vihar to Daryaganj at the time of the incident. Ashish works as a painter.“The vehicle was moving at a considerable speed and it came in contact with a sudden speed breaker, causing it to lose balance. The disbalanced motorcycle rammed into the divider and they fell from the impact,” said a senior police officer. The fall was from the height of around 20 feet.
