Gurgaon: A Municipal Corporation of Manesar (MCM) enforcement team was allegedly attacked with an axe during an anti-encroachment drive in Bhangrola village on Wednesday afternoon, leaving a home guard personnel injured. Police have registered an FIR at Kherki Daula police station.The incident occurred around 2pm when the team, accompanied by duty magistrate and sub-divisional officer (SDO) Shashikant, reached the village to remove encroachments from govt land as part of the civic body’s ongoing enforcement drive.According to MCM officials, a group of local residents, identified as Sevaram, Billu, Ishwar, Saurav, Gaurav, Deepak and others, opposed the demolition. Despite attempts by the duty magistrate to persuade them, the group allegedly abused and pushed members of the enforcement team before repeatedly attacking them with an axe. The home guard personnel is currently admitted to a hospital but is stated to be stable.MCM commissioner Pradeep Singh condemned the attack, saying assaults on govt employees and obstruction of official duty would not be tolerated and that those responsible would face action as per law.He added that the civic body will continue its drive to remove encroachments from govt land across the corporation area. Singh also urged residents to voluntarily remove unauthorised occupations and reminded property owners that prior approval of building plans from the municipal corporation is mandatory before undertaking any new construction. He warned that action would be taken against unauthorised constructions in accordance with the rules.
