Awareness programme on GCC shelter scheme held in Chennai

Chennai: Coordinators of Greater Chennai Corporation’s (GCC) shelter project conducted an awareness programme on the civic body’s shelter scheme in the city.More than 800 people benefitted from the programme that was recently held at the Central Railway station on the instructions of the commissioner and the joint commissioner (works). According to a release, the coordinators spread awareness on the shelter facilities and services provided under the scheme through street plays, parai attam (traditional drum performance), kadhani koothu (folk performance), and oyilattam (traditional folk dance).A public pledge was also administered to encourage community participation and support for the initiative. Chief community development officer Rajkumar coordinated the event and delivered the vote of thanks, a release said.Gender Lab lead Legis, inspector Nandakumar of the Periamedu Police Station, railway police personnel, railway protection force personnel and singappen Task Force personnel were present at the event.
