TNNLudhiana: Khanna police arrested eight persons for allegedly barging into a house and assaulting a family earlier this month.SSP Khanna, Dr Darpan Ahluwalia, said a case was registered on July 14 against unidentified persons after a group of assailants forcibly entered the house of the complainant and attacked the family.During investigation, police identified Kuldeep Kumar, a resident of Surya Enclave, Khanna, as the alleged mastermind of the attack.SSP Khanna said that Kuldeep allegedly conspired with Davinder Singh, a resident of Basant Nagar, Khanna, who hired five men to execute the assault.Police officials said that the hired accused included Sandeep Kumar of Chatarpura village in Fatehgarh Sahib, Gurdeep Singh of the same district, Lakhwinder Singh, Sukhdeep Singh, both of Patiala, and Gurjant Singh of Gobindgarh.

They added that Sukhdeep also arranged the Swift Dzire allegedly used in the crime.The SSP said all the accused were traced and arrested during the investigation.Police also arrested Lalit Kumar, a goldsmith from Amloh, after it was found that the silver chain allegedly snatched from the complainant’s son was sold to him by Gurjant and Sandeep.Police officer said that during interrogation, the accused allegedly disclosed that the assault was not carried out with the intention of committing robbery. She suggested that instead, the attack stemmed from a long-standing monetary dispute between the complainant and Kuldeep Kumar.The SSP said eight accused were arrested so far, while efforts are underway to nab the remaining suspects. She added that the accused are being interrogated and further disclosures are expected.
