Guwahati: Nearly 13,000 consumers in flood-ravaged Upper Assam remain without electricity 11 days after the deluge.CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said Thursday that the govt was continuously assessing safety conditions before restoring power in affected areas.“Consumers without electricity have declined by a further 30%. As water levels recede, we are continuously assessing safety conditions and will restore more transformers to the grid wherever it is safe to do so,” Sarma said in a post on X.According to an Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd (APDCL) report shared by the chief minister, 12,756 consumers under the Sivasagar Electrical Circle remain without power.The affected areas include Gaurisagar, Sivasagar, Nazira, Amguri and Demow. They were among the worst hit after flash floods inundated Upper Assam on July 19 following exceptionally heavy rainfall in neighbouring Nagaland.Power supply has been restored gradually over the past week. On July 24, Sarma said around 40,000 consumers were without electricity, while supply was restored to nearly 75% of those affected.
