Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh governor KT Parnaik and CM Pema Khandu on Sunday launched the statewide fifth edition of the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign in Itanagar.The day coincided with the historic August Kranti Diwas.Organised by the art and culture department under the aegis of the Union ministry of culture, the campaign will run until Aug 17. During the launch, Parnaik and Khandu handed over national flags to youths and joined attendees in singing “Vande Mataram,” accompanied by patriotic performances by state artistes.Addressing the gathering, Parnaik called the initiative a mass movement that rekindles patriotism and fosters emotional integration as India marches towards “Viksit Bharat@2047.”Recalling Mahatma Gandhi’s 1942 Quit India Movement call of “Do or Die,” he said patriotism should translate into civic duty, respect for the Constitution, environmental stewardship and public service.Referring to Arunachal Pradesh as the sentinel of India’s eastern frontier, the governor highlighted the state’s deep-rooted dedication to national integrity. He encouraged youths to embrace “Jai Hind” as a standard greeting and advocated wider use of Hindi along with local languages to strengthen regional connectivity under “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.”Khandu said the initiative aims to deepen national bonds and honour the sacrifices of freedom fighters beyond flag-hoisting.Deputy chief minister Chowna Mein, who was present, paid tribute to Arunachal Pradesh’s unsung heroes and said national pride remains deeply ingrained among the people.As part of the event, the dignitaries felicitated ex-servicemen and gaon buras for their continued service to society. The ceremony was also attended by assembly speaker Tesam Pongte, cabinet ministers, lawmakers, senior administrative and police officials, student groups and community leaders.The campaign was also launched in Khonsa in Tirap district, Namsai in Namsai district and Yingkiong in Upper Siang district.
