Another man accused of lynching trader booked under NSA

Varanasi: Gomti zone of Varanasi police commissionerate on Wednesday booked under NSA charges Ashish Rajbhar, prime accused in the Apr 26 case of mob lynching in which trader Manish Singh was killed. Rajbhar was arrested after suffering bullet injury in leg on May 4 during police encounter. As many as 12, including Rajbhar, were arrested and booked under Gangster Act.Police commissioner Mohit Agrawal approved the recommendation of the DCP Gomti Zone Neetu made on the report of ACP (Pindra) and Phoolpur police station in charge to book Rajbhar under Section 3(3) of the National Security Act, 1980 and forwarded it to district magistrate Satyendra Kumar. On Wednesday, Kumar ordered to detain Rajbhar under NSA. Further proceedings were underway to book other accused under NSA.On Apr 26, trader Manish Singh was returning home in Ghamhapur under Phoolpur police station area in his car when his vehicle hit a woman washing utensils along the road in night. When Manish stopped his car to take stock, her enraged family members and villagers beat Manish to death. On complaint of Manish’s family a case was registered at Phoolpur police station.On May 4, Ashish Rajbhar (32) and Manish Rajbhar were arrested during a police encounter. Manoj Prajapati, Harishchandra Rajbhar, Yogendra Prajapati and Abhishek alias Buddhu were arrested on Apr 28. Govind Rajbhar and Nagendra Rajbhar were arrested on May 8 and Brijesh Prajapati and Rajesh Prajapati were arrested on May 21. Pawan Rajbhar and Deepak Rajbhar surrendered before the court on May 23 and 25, respectively.The DCP said 12 accused were under judicial custody. Following completion of the investigation, charge sheet was filed and they were all booked under Gangster Act on Jun 4.
