Chandigarh: Clearing a backlog from last month’s deferred session, the Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) of the Chandigarh municipal corporation approved all 26 agenda items presented during its meeting on Friday.The approved agendas focus on citywide developmental works spanning water supply, civic infrastructure, public amenities, road repairs, sanitation, and green space maintenance.Major allocations include ₹47.8 lakh for repairing and renovating filtration plants (45 MGD and 25 MGD) and backwash wells at the Sector 39 Water Works. The panel also approved ₹32 lakh for constructing walking tracks in Sector 34 parks, ₹15.4 lakh to upgrade the Sector 40-C scooter market, and ₹13.3 lakh to augment the water distribution network in Ram Darbar.Additional infrastructure approvals include ₹13 lakh for laying a water pipeline near the Sector 25 gas agency and ₹7.8 lakh for paver block repairs on the cattle pound approach road in Industrial Area Phase-1.For city beautification, the committee sanctioned ₹8.8 lakh for ornamental planting in Sector 42, ₹7.1 lakh for new huts and benches across Sectors 52, 61, and Kajheri, and ₹3.8 lakh to procure six petrol-engine hedge trimmers.Social welfare agendas were also passed, notably extending the lease of the Manimajra Raen Basera building to Sadhna Society for Mentally Retarded Children for another three years to continue running their school.
