New Delhi: Using facial recognition technology and AI-based tools, police have launched a manhunt to identify those allegedly involved in Wednesday night’s violence.Investigators said they have obtained several videos purportedly showing police personnel allegedly being chased, assaulted and stripped of their batons during the clashes. At least five cops were injured.DCP (New Delhi) Sachin Sharma said an FIR has been registered in connection with the violence in which two ACPs sustained injuries. The case has been registered under sections related to attempted murder, robbery, assault on public servants, obstruction of govt officials in discharge of duty, unlawful assembly, rioting and other relevant offences. So far, 11 FIRs have been filed in connection with the violence.Special commissioner of police (law and order) Devesh Srivastava, accompanied by other senior officers, visited RML Hospital on Thursday to meet the injured personnel. During the visit, cops briefed the senior leadership about the circumstances under which they were allegedly attacked and the injuries they sustained.According to police sources, dedicated teams have been formed to trace the suspects using CCTV footage, facial recognition systems and AI-based video analysis. They are matching visuals from various locations and examining mobile phone recordings, surveillance footage and videos circulating on social media to establish the identities of those allegedly involved in the attacks.Police have now received 40 additional videos allegedly showing rioters vandalising property, attacking police personnel and disrupting public order, taking the total number of videos collected to about 80.
