Ahmedabad: A quiet residential lane on Rajpath Road in Bodakdev turned tense after a man allegedly staged a noisy protest outside his estranged wife’s home. The incident, reported around 11.30pm on Monday, involved firecrackers, loud music and repeated attempts to draw attention, leaving residents and the woman’s family alarmed.The family says the incident is part of a pattern of harassment. Satellite police stepped in and registered a case of stalking. According to a complaint filed by a family member, the accused, who has been living separately from his wife for several years following marital disputes, arrived near her society gate and began bursting firecrackers on the public road. He also allegedly played loud music from his car and stayed parked outside for a prolonged period. The woman’s family, disturbed by the commotion and concerned about her safety, contacted the police control room. The complaint states that this was not an isolated incident. Over the past few days, the accused had allegedly been sending repeated messages on social media and uploading videos using the woman’s name, causing her significant mental distress.Family members further alleged that the man had been following the woman on multiple occasions when she stepped out for work, raising fears of persistent stalking. The woman is currently living with her family after separating from him.Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for stalking, harassment and public nuisance, including disobedience of orders issued by a public servant. Investigators said they are now examining digital evidence such as social media activity and communication records to establish the sequence of events and the extent of harassment.Officials added that further action will be taken based on findings from the ongoing probe.
