After uproar, minority welfare dept cancels Urdu Ghar GO

Hyderabad: Stung by criticism over the allotment of over one acre prime land near Raidurg to a private developer for the construction of an Urdu Ghar-cum-Shadikhana and a commercial complex on a 30-year lease without following due procedure, minority welfare department has cancelled the govt order (GO). The state has decided to call for fresh tenders for leasing the land parcel. The state had allocated over one acre land in survey number 29 of Dargah Hussain Shah Wali village, Shaikpet, in Serilingampally to Urdu Academy 20 years ago. It had proposed to construct a Shadikhana 10 years ago and the state had even allocated Rs 10 crore. But suddenly the minority welfare department issued a GO in the first week of July allocating the land to one NN Infra and Constructions on a lease for 30 years for construction of Urdu Ghar-cum-Shadikhana and a commercial complex on build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis.Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi criticised the GO, stating that the secretary has no power to do so and such a decision must be approved by the chief secretary after issuing a public notice and inviting suggestions and objections. The entire procedure has been bypassed, he added.Other Muslim leaders too objected to the move. Govt finally cancelled the GO a couple of days ago.
