Surat: A theft was reported at the Adajan showroom of Palmonas, a jewellery chain co-founded by actor Shraddha Kapoor, in the early hours of Tuesday. The theft occurred around 4am when an unidentified person entered the premises by creating a gap in the shop’s shutter and stole jewellery from inside.Police said that while preliminary assessments indicate jewellery worth Rs 21 lakh may have been taken, they were unable to register an FIR till 9pm on Tuesday due to the absence of a clear statement on the value of the stolen stock. “Showroom officials are yet to provide the exact value of the stolen items and details of stock, due to which the FIR registration is yet to be completed,” a police officer said.Some 300 articles, including gold chains, rings, earrings and other products, were stolen. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from inside and around the showroom to establish the sequence of events and identify the thief. Police said the footage shows a man entering the shop after manipulating the shutter. Teams are also examining if the suspect had help from someone positioned outside the premises.Police sources said efforts to identify the person from available footage have not yet yielded results. Investigators are expanding the search by scanning CCTV footage from the area and likely routes to trace the escape path and any potential accomplices.Palmonas is known for selling affordable jewellery aimed at young customers. Police are questioning the employees and gathering details of recent visitors.
