ABVP warns intense protests if university fails to address concerns

TIMES NEWS NETWORKMangaluru: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has urged Mangalore University to address students concerns regarding the inadequate facilities. Suvith Shetty, state secretary, ABVP, told reporters on Tuesday that protests will intensify if the university fails to fulfil their demands.“We have held a peaceful protest demanding the university to find solutions to the problems of students. However, the university tried to suppress the voice of students. Instead of finding solutions to the problems, the university remains unconcerned. Instead, protesting students were detained by police,” he said.The university, which once was a reputed institution, has been losing its sheen due to various reasons including the failures on part of the administration and irregularities. While the university lacks better infrastructure and permanent faculty, unacceptable fee structure also has been affecting students. Despite not providing quality lab equipments, the university collects Rs 12,000 as lab fee from MBA students,” he said and demanded the university to return the fee collected from MBA students.Botany and political science departments have no water purifier, while, library science, computer science and computer applications departments lack sufficient number of computers, he added.
