About 11k citizens in G’nagar use electric bus service every day: Gujarat govt

Gandhinagar: State govt said on Tuesday that, on average, about 11,000 people have been using the new electric bus service every day in the state capital and that many preferred the service instead of their private vehicles.Equipped with air conditioning and CCTV, the new E-bus service has been operational in Gandhinagar since June 29 and is operated by the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation.“Over a span of 14 days, a total of 1,53,509 passengers used the service. On average, 10,965 passengers travelled on these buses every day. For daily commuters, the service has become an effective means of making everyday life simpler, safer, and less stressful,” an official statement said.On the first day, June 29, the passenger count was 6,120 — the lowest. However, as people experienced the convenience and comfort of the bus service, demand continued to rise. On July 11, a record 13,615 passengers travelled, setting a new high, the statement added. These buses provide direct connectivity from key hubs such as Sargasan Circle, Pathik Ashram Terminal, and the secretariat to nearby rural, educational, and industrial areas including Kalol, Kadi, Dehgam, Chiloda, and Chandkheda. The service connects educational institutes such as IIT Gandhinagar and PDEU.
