AAP seeks govt’s stand on Griha Adhar hike

Margao: AAP’s women’s wing on Friday led a delegation to chief minister Pramod Sawant, seeking govt’s official stand on raising the Griha Adhar assistance to Rs 3,000 a month, without terms and conditions. The delegation, led by Goa women’s wing president Mamata Maben, alleged that a BJP woman MLA who sought a similar hike, citing Arvind Kejriwal’s guarantee, was shouted at by BJP national general secretary BL Santosh in a high-level meeting and told to leave the party. The delegation asked whether the CM endorsed such conduct.AAP demanded that the scheme be extended to every woman.AAP said inflation had made running households difficult, with electricity and water bills, medical and school expenses, petrol and LPG costs straining families already hit by unemployment and low incomes. The delegation asked whether BJP believed prices had stagnated like Griha Adhar payments and urged it to learn from AAP govts how to serve people. The AAP women’s wing urged Sawant not to take women for granted and to clarify his stance.
