Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party on Friday questioned the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee’s decision to constitute a four-member inquiry committee to probe the controversy surrounding a woman’s stay at an SGPC-run sarai at Sri Anandpur Sahib.AAP Punjab media in charge Baltej Pannu alleged that the entire exercise appeared aimed at buying time and letting the issue “cool down”.“They formed a committee of junior members and gave it 15 days so that the issue can be delayed. But people are asking questions now, and the SGPC cannot escape those questions by simply announcing a committee,” Pannu said.He said, “The silence of senior Akali leaders is equally revealing. Why did Sukhbir Singh Badal and Harsimrat Kaur Badal refuse to answer questions, and Bikram Singh Majithia is also silent on this matter.”The SGPC constituted the committee on Sept 22 and asked it to submit its report within 15 days. SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami said the committee would examine all aspects of the matter and that questions raised by the Sikh sangat would be answered after the inquiry.
