AAP flays Haryana government over toll plazas, CNG rate disparity

Chandigarh: The Haryana unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday slammed the state govt for allowing certain toll plazas to continue charging money despite completing their allotted tenure. Besides this, AAP also categorically blamed state govt’s policy on the issue of disparity of CNG rates in the state across various districts. These two issues were among the various other issues raised by AAP’s Haryana president Sushil Gupta, who chaired the party’s state executive meeting, which was called to discuss strategies in the wake of civic polls as well as other campaigns. “CNG costs Rs 77 per kg in Delhi, while in Haryana the rates go up to Rs 91 per kg in Haryana. The culprit here is the allocation of districts to companies dealing with CNG. Each company is given one district where companies have maintained their monopolies. If govt allowed all companies to operate in all the districts, there would have been competitive rates on the lines of the national capital,” said Gupta while referring to disparity in CNG rates.Similarly, he took up the issue of toll plazas, while claiming that 30% of the total toll plazas continue to operate even as their tenure ended long ago. “Who has allowed those toll plazas to fleece common people? Why is the govt not asking them to close down? There are a dozen and a half such toll plazas; this raises serious question. In Punjab, govt has closed down more than 20 such toll plazas so far,” said Gupta. While referring to participation of AAP in civic polls, Gupta clarified that party will field candidates for the posts of mayors and corporators in Ambala, Panchkula and Sonipat municipal corporation elections.
