New Sindhi organisation for cultural outreach
Vishva Sindhi Seva Sangam (United) will be launched on August 1

Pune: A new organisation, Vishva Sindhi Seva Sangam (United), will be launched on Aug 1 to bring the city’s estimated 45,000-member Sindhi community under a common platform through a network of area-wise committees and a central coordinating body. The organisation has been working for the community for the last 27 years in more than 92 countries. The organisers appealed to Sindhi families across Pune to participate in the initiative by volunteering as area coordinators, mentoring young members, and contributing to community activities. They said an introductory meeting would soon be held to constitute the central core committee, appoint area presidents and prepare the annual calendar of programmes.Addressing a press conference recently, Bobby Karnani, state president of the organisation, said the initiative seeks to strengthen community participation, preserve Sindhi culture and create a structured framework for educational, social welfare and entrepreneurial activities.Karnani said although Pune has a sizeable Sindhi population, participation in existing organisations remains limited. A unified platform, she said, would enable the community to undertake larger social and cultural initiatives while improving access to govt welfare schemes and grants. The organisation plans to organise community celebrations, including Cheti Chand, Lal Loi, Sindhi Language Day, and Sindhi Sammelan, to promote the Sindhi language and cultural heritage. It also proposes holding an annual outstation programme to strengthen ties among community members. The organisation also proposes to prepare a directory of Sindhi entrepreneurs and professionals to encourage business networking and collaborations.
