Hyderabad: Telangana govt on Monday released another ₹2,000 crore towards pending employee dues, taking the total disbursement to ₹4,000 crore in a month under its plan to clear ₹6,000 crore of arrears in phases.The finance department issued orders releasing the funds following directions from chief minister A Revanth Reddy and deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. The latest instalment comes after the govt released the first ₹2,000 crore on May 29, honouring its assurance to employee unions that long-pending dues would be cleared within 100 days.As part of the latest exercise, the govt said it had fully cleared General Provident Fund (GPF) dues of retired employees and Zilla Parishad teachers. It also settled commutation claims of retired employees pending up to Sept 2025.The state also cleared all pending bills of up to ₹10,000, processing more than five lakh payment tokens, according to officials.The Congress govt has been under pressure from employee organisations to release retirement benefits and other pending claims amid concerns over the state’s finances. Monday’s release is the second major instalment under the repayment plan announced after discussions with leaders of the employees’ Joint Action Committee.Officials said the remaining dues would be released in phases over the coming weeks. Employee union representatives welcomed the latest disbursal and said they expected the govt to adhere to the timeline announced for clearing the balance arrears.
