Gurgaon: AIIMS Rewari is set to receive dedicated power connectivity by the end of June, marking the completion of a key milestone as the govt hospital gears up to begin its OPD services in July.According to an official from ministry of health and family welfare, the Rs 16 crore project was sanctioned in Oct 2025 and is being executed by Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN). “Work on two dedicated 8,100 kilowatt feeders linking the campus with the Pali Gothra and Buroli substations is in its final stage,“ he said.Haryana govt has also laid down timelines for the long-pending railway bridge (ROB), connection for permanent water supply and stormwater management works.“Tenders for the railway bridge are expected to be invited within two months. Construction is likely to begin soon after the award of work and is expected to be completed in about 30 months,” the official said.Road connectivity work, considered one of the biggest hurdles for the institute, is also moving forward. After revisions to the alignment following public objections and the construction of a trumpet interchange, Haryana has secured approvals from the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCI), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Railways. The trumpet interchange is proposed at the junction where AIIMS Rewari connects to the national highway, providing direct, grade-separated access to the campus. It was introduced after the original ROB approach alignment was revised following public objections. The aim is to allow vehicles to enter and exit AIIMS without crossing highway traffic. The govt has also initiated the next phase of water infrastructure for the campus. AIIMS Rewari has an estimated requirement of 1,500 kilolitres of water per day (KLD). As an interim arrangement, four tubewells at Pali village have been commissioned and are supplying around 500 KLD. The remaining demand will be met through a Rs 26.8 crore canal-based water supply scheme, which has received administrative approval and has already been awarded to the public health engineering department. The project is targeted for completion by April 30, 2027, although release of funds is awaiting clearance from the finance department.Stormwater management work is also nearing completion. Of the 90 rainwater harvesting wells planned across the campus, 86 have already been constructed. The remaining stormwater will be channelled through an existing drain after desilting and removal of encroachments by the Rewari district administration.Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone for AIIMS Rewari on Feb 16, 2024. Once developed, it will offer comprehensive healthcare with a 720-bed hospital, a 100-seat medical college, a 60-seat nursing college and a 30-bed AYUSH block, among other facilities. Its first MBBS programme will start this year, with a limited annual intake of 50 students.
