Lucknow: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram temple was expected to submit its preliminary report to chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday. But, sources said, the report will now be submitted on Monday.Sources said the report recommends structural reforms in the management of the temple trust, including the appointment of a chief executive officer on the lines of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple administration.The SIT, constituted by the state govt on Jun 13, comprises Lucknow divisional commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, IG Lucknow range, Kiran S, and Neelratan Kumar, special secretary in the finance department.SIT began its inquiry last week and examined the system of donation collection, cash counting, accounting and temple management. During the six-day investigation, statements of several individuals associated with temple operations, donation management and related arrangements were recorded.Among those questioned were trust members, temple administrators, supervisors, bankers, security staff and others.SIT is said to have examined the entire chain of donation handling, including collection from donation boxes, cash counting, record maintenance and deposit procedures. The probe was expanded beyond the alleged embezzlement allegations to include administrative systems and accountability mechanisms within the temple trust.The state govt had directed the SIT to submit a preliminary report within a week and an interim report within two weeks.
