Court cancels bail of two Nepali nationals in Jubilee Hills robbery case

Hyderabad: A local court recently cancelled the bail of two Nepali nationals accused in a robbery case, after observing that they had failed to comply with bail conditions, following a request from Jubilee Hills police. The accused, Janak Kumar Bikram Shahi and Lalith Bahadur Chand, allegedly did not appear before the investigating officer over the past two weeks.“The accused are not cooperating with the investigation, thereby obstructing the progress of the case. Considering their conduct, there is a strong apprehension that they may abscond permanently, influence witnesses, or tamper with evidence,” police told the court.“It is submitted that both accused are natives of Nepal and, given their non-compliance and disappearance, there is a strong likelihood that they may have already left, or may leave, for their home country, thereby placing themselves beyond the reach of law enforcement agencies,” the officials said. However, counsel for the accused denied the allegations and opposed the police petition, claiming that the accused were being harassed by the police. After hearing arguments from both sides, the court cancelled the previously granted bail and directed Jubilee Hills police to arrest the two Nepali nationals. The case pertains to an incident on Feb 5, when five individuals allegedly conspired to rob a house in Nandagiri Hills under the Jubilee Hills police limits. The accused reportedly entered the premises after intoxicating the occupants and decamped with valuables worth around ₹1.30 crore.
